On The Silkie Farm, we take great pride in our commitment to providing the highest quality chicken breeds. As a local, family-owned and operated Chicken Farm and Hatchery since 2001, we have dedicated ourselves in maintaining and adhering to strict breeding standards set forth by The National Poultry Association. The Silkie Farm is known for its organic, free-range, and non-GMO fed chicken hatchery. We have meticulously refined our breeding processes to ensure that we produce the finest breeding qualities in all of our ornamental, select breeds: Bearded and Crested Show Silkie’s, Polish Crested gentleman Top-Hats complimented by their lady-like companions, Polish crested lady-top-bonnets. Following suits are our Appenzeller Spitzhauben’s, the sweetest old-souls of the pack that are outfitted by their black & white speckled bodies and infamous (“Mohawk’ed top-hat’s”). These breeds are classified as rare and fall into the ornamental category of egg-laying chickens.
With a long and well-established bloodline of infamous Pure-bred Silkie Bantam genetics, our breeding stocks are highly regarded in the industry. Our Silkie chickens are known for their friendly and docile behaviors, living up to their reputation as, “The lap dogs of chickens”. 1. Organic and Non-GMO: We prioritize the health and well-being of our chickens by strictly adhering to organic practices. Our chickens are raised on all organic feed and grains we grind ourselves upon reaching their laying age upon 16 weeks old. Our chicken homegrown and pasteurized fed greens and grains are free from any genetically modified organisms (GMOs). This ensures that our breeding chickens are always healthy and free from any poultry diseases and are tested regularly because we are licensed by the National Poultry Improvement Plan, (NPIP). Our chickens on The Silkie Farm are provided their best quality life and produce their best quality eggs the same way, GUARANTEED!
2. Free-Range Environment: Our chickens enjoy a free-range lifestyle, meaning they have ample space to roam and forage in a natural environment. This allows them to exhibit their natural behaviors and results in healthier and happier birds.
3. NPIP Certification: The Silkie Farm is a proud holder of NPIP (National Poultry Improvement Plan) certification. This certification ensures that our breeding stocks are healthy and free from diseases. We undergo regular testing and follow strict biosecurity measures to maintain the health and integrity of our flocks. Our chickens are also e-Fowl Registered with Texas Health and Humans Services Commission and licensed with our own permit.
4. Rare Breeds: The Silkie Farm specializes in breeding and raising rare breeds of chickens, including Silkie, Polish, and Appenzeller Spitzhaunen and all of our chicks and chickens come with the Marek’s Disease and Fowl Pox Vaccinations from the start. These breeds are known for their unique and ornamental characteristics, making them highly sought after by poultry enthusiasts.
